June 15 is “Kenmin no Hi” (Chiba Prefectural Citizens’ Day).

It was established in 1984 to celebrate the Prefecture’s population exceeding 5 million people, and is a day for residents of Chiba Prefecture to learn about Chiba, love Chiba, and help make Chiba Prefecture into a place for the next generation to be proud of.

June 15 commemorates June 15, 1873, when the Kisarazu and Imba Prefectures merged to form the present-day Chiba Prefecture.

To commemorate “Kenmin no Hi” on June 15, the Chiba Wakuwaku Festa 2022 will be held on Sunday, June 12 to let everyone discover the charms of Chiba Prefecture while having fun!

There will be a gourmet corner using ingredients form the sea, a culture corner about the sea in Chiba where visitors can enjoy workshops such as sticker art, and many other sea-themed contents.
