1) Appointment of CHI-BA+KUN Global Partners

The Chiba Prefectural Government works to support the creation of a prefecture in which all residents, regardless of nationality, language, culture, or customs, can live and work together in harmony. To further this aim, the CHI-BA+KUN Global Partners Program has been in place since 2020. The program invites foreign residents to make use of their viewpoints by offering their opinions on prefectural policies and sharing information with the public.

On Thursday, April 20, 29 foreign residents who live, work, or study in Chiba Prefecture were appointed as CHI-BA+KUN Global Partners for the 2023-2024 fiscal year in a ceremony held at the Chiba Prefectural Government Office. This year’s Partners, who come from 10 different countries and regions, will utilize their perspectives to cooperate with Chiba Prefecture in a wide range of activities, including providing information to foreigners and participating in opinion exchange meetings and events held by the Prefecture.

4. Activity Details
   ・Take part in opinion exchange meetings and participate in questionnaires
   ・Participate in events and “monitor tours” held by the Prefecture and promote Chiba’s appeal
   ・Distribute information from the Prefecture
   ・Contribute to the Prefectural Government’s efforts in making Chiba Prefecture a more comfortable place to live

II. Festivals and Events

1) Chiba Prefecture 150th Anniversary Opening Event

This year (2023) marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of Chiba Prefecture, which was created through the merging of Kisarazu and Inba Prefectures on June 15, 1873.

Under the theme of "Looking back on the past 150 years and thinking about the future that will follow," the Chiba Prefectural Government will hold commemorative events throughout the prefecture from June 2023 to June 2024 in cooperation with municipalities and the private sector.

To start this year off, an opening event to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Chiba Prefecture will be held in Matsudo City on Sunday, June 11. We hope to see you there!

• Part 1: singing of the national anthem and prefectural people’s song, greetings from the governor, screening of “Chiba Prefecture’s 150 Years of History,” award ceremony for the Chiba Cultural Assets Original Frame Stamp Design Contest
• Part 2: talk session by Chiba Prefecture 150th Anniversary Project General Producer Kobayashi Takeshi, General Director Kitagawa Fram, and Governor Kumagai
• Part 3: concert by the Chiba Prefecture Boys and Girls Orchestra and the Chiba Symphony Orchestra

Music Concert (Small Hall)

• Live performances from bands that were opening acts at the ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2022 and other major events, featuring special guests

DANCE Fes. in CHIBA (Small Hall)

• A dance stage featuring street dance performances like breakdancing, with appearances from Bayfm’s MC KENSAKU and Bboy Shigekix, one of Japan’s leading breakdancers, to liven up the stage

Other Events

• Performances and product sales by the Chiba Prefectural Police Band and Color Guard, plus an exhibition corner

《Forest and Park for the 21st Century》

• Gourmet Corner: sales of foods with connections to Chiba Prefecture

• Art Experience Corner: hands-on art experiences that make use of nature with artists associated with Chiba Prefecture, such as Suzuki Rana and Barusamikoyasu; the Chiba University Faculty of Horticulture; Seitoku University Lifelong Learning Institute; and the Ryutsu Keizai University Center for Diversity Advancement
• Prefectural Museum and Art Museum Hands-On Experience Corner

Sasaki Moto, pro BMX Biker

• BMX Experience Corner: stage performances and hands-on experiences by Matsudo City-based pro BMX biker Sasaki Moto and others
• Charm of Chiba Discovery Corner: product sales and hands-on experiences courtesy of the Chiba Prefectural Government, Chiba Prefectural municipalities, and other organizations, along with booths from companies operating in Chiba Prefecture
