I. Hina Ningyo Doll Festival in Katsuura

Over 20,000 hina ningyo dolls will be on display throughout Katsuura City for the "2007 Katsuura Big Hina Festival." The main display will be at the Tomisaki Shrine, with 1,200 hina-ningyo dolls spread over a 60-step rock stairway. In the evening, the display will be lit up, providing a different look from its daytime appearance.

II. Become a "Chiba Tabi-meister!"

In order to introduce more of the great things Chiba has to offer, 20 unique hands-on activities have been set up throughout the prefecture for visitors to participate in. A "tabi-passport" will be issued at each event and you'll receive a stamp at each activity you attend. Collect 10 stamps and you'll receive a "Chiba Tabi Gold Meister" certificate and a prize of one of Chiba's specialty products. Events include tie-dying art, pendant making, elephant riding, a pro sushi-slicing show, glass art, cooking classes and much more.

III. Ume Flower Festival at Shimizu Park

Over 80 Japanese plum trees are planted in the park grounds of Shimizu Koen and now their beautiful flowers are starting to bloom. While you visit, please stop by the Shurakukan, which was built during the Taisho Period, where Ama-zake (Japanese sweet rice sake) and oden (a Japanese broth filled with several different ingredients) are for sale.

IV. Guidebook of the 100 Best Scenic Spots in Chiba

In October 2006's Ed.6 of Chiba Nanohana News, we featured a few places ranked on Chiba's top 100* scenic spots. Since then, a guidebook featuring pictures and a short introduction of each place, plus transportation access, fees, contact information, website links and more has been put together and is scheduled to be put out for sale mid-February. The guidebook is a compact 112 page book and will be sold in major convenience stores around the prefecture. Cost is approximately 400 yen. Information is in Japanese.

Where to go?! - Chiba's Featured Location

"Where to go?!"is an introduction of each edition's featured location. We've asked local residents of all areas in Chiba Prefecture to introduce the unique areas of their towns and we'd like to share them with you. We hope you enjoy exploring every inch of beauty Chiba has to offer.
