Chiba Prefectural Government has been conducting the Project for Strengthening Capacity in Operation and Maintenance Works at Sewage Treatment Facilities and Water Environment Education Program in Hanoi under JICA Partnership Program since 2007.
JICA Partnership Program was introduced in 2002 to support and cooperate with the implementation of projects formulated by Japanese NGOs, Japanese local governments, Japanese universities and public corporations to utilize their accumulated knowledge and experience in assistance activities for developing countries.
The purpose of this project is to transfer Chiba’s technical knowledge and experiences in the fields of operation and maintenance of sewage treatment facilities and raising citizen’s understanding for sewage treatment and awareness of water environment conservation so that Hanoi City will become a model for other Vietnamese cities in the independent operation and maintenance of sewage treatment facilities and effective water environment education in Vietnam.
Hanoi Sewerage and Drainage Company (HSDC) is counterpart in the project.
